How OpenFront achievements work
OpenFront achievements are easier to pursue when you know which objectives require public matches, which accumulate across wins, and which must be completed in one game. Choosing the wrong lobby can invalidate an attempt: the nuclear-free victory requires nukes to remain enabled, even though you must avoid launching them.
The official Steam announcement dated September 23, 2026, advertises 29 achievements for version 0.2.0. They cover victories, map variety, construction, combat, naval activity, and special encounters.
The tables below organize all 29 requirements from the Steam achievement listing on Exophase. Their labels describe objectives rather than official achievement names.
Before starting, check three things:
- Match eligibility: Requirements that specify public games need public matches.
- Counting period: A single-game target must be reached within one match.
- Completion condition: Some objectives require victory; others require participation or an action.
Solo map stars and medals also appear in community discussions. Completing a solo challenge does not satisfy a requirement explicitly asking for a public victory.

Public wins, maps, and victory conditions
Several achievements reward repeated wins. Free-for-all, abbreviated FFA, has its own milestones, while the broader public-win achievements accept either FFA or Team victories. Team wins advance the combined milestones, but not the FFA-specific targets.
| Objective | Required result |
|---|---|
| First FFA victory | Take first place in one public FFA match. |
| 50 FFA victories | Accumulate 50 wins in public FFA matches. |
| 250 FFA victories | Accumulate 250 wins in public FFA matches. |
| First Team victory | Finish on the winning side of one public Team match. |
| 10 public victories | Total 10 public wins across FFA, Team, or both. |
| 100 public victories | Total 100 public wins across FFA, Team, or both. |
| 1,000 public victories | Total 1,000 public wins across FFA, Team, or both. |
| Victories across 25 maps | Record public victories on 25 distinct maps. |
| Victories across every map | Record a public victory on each map. |
Keep a checklist of maps where you have earned public victories. Repeated wins on the same map do not increase your distinct-map total. The every-map description does not enumerate the required maps, so avoid assuming a fixed completion count.
Five additional achievements attach conditions to a public victory:
| Objective | Required result |
|---|---|
| Victory without nuclear launches | Win a public FFA match without launching any nuke; nuclear weapons must be enabled in the lobby. |
| Comeback victory | Win a public match after your territory has been reduced to almost nothing. |
| Loss-free victory | Win a public match while meeting the condition of losing nothing. |
| Fast victory | Win a public match with at least 20 players before eight minutes have elapsed. |
| Long-match victory | Win a public match lasting 45 minutes or longer. |
The nuclear restriction is especially easy to misread. A lobby that disables nukes does not qualify, and a Team victory does not meet this particular FFA requirement.
Both timed objectives require a win. The comeback and loss-free descriptions leave details undefined: exact territory thresholds and the full meaning of losing nothing have not been officially confirmed. A guessed percentage or narrow interpretation is not a reliable trigger.
Construction, combat, and naval objectives
Most action-based achievements have explicit single-game targets. Their descriptions do not explicitly require public matches or victories, but that omission alone does not establish which alternative modes qualify.
| Objective | Required action |
|---|---|
| City construction | Construct 100 cities during one match. |
| MIRV launch | Fire a MIRV. |
| Massive-attack survival | Survive one incoming attack containing 2,000,000 troops. |
| First human elimination | Be the player responsible for the match's first elimination of a human opponent. |
| Trade income | Generate 50 million gold through trade routes during one match. |
| Nuclear interceptions | Have SAM launchers shoot down 20 incoming nukes during one match. |
| Transport invasions | Complete 25 transport-ship invasion landings during one match. |
| 100 trade-ship captures | Seize 100 trade ships during one match. |
| 1,000 trade-ship captures | Seize 1,000 trade ships during one match. |
| Warship destruction | Sink 100 warships during one match. |
Track the action named in each requirement. Trade income means gold earned through trade routes, not your overall gold total. Cities must be constructed, and transport invasions must land; sending a ship toward its destination does not complete a landing.
Surviving several smaller attacks does not fulfill the requirement for one incoming attack containing two million troops. Likewise, eliminating an AI opponent does not satisfy the first-human-elimination objective.
Plan naval attempts around water access. Ports support a trading economy, while cities increase troop capacity. Expanding through easier terrain and nearby weaker AI opponents can help fund a longer attempt. These are preparation priorities, not additional achievement requirements.
Choose a primary target before committing resources. Incoming nukes, enemy warships, and capturable trade ships depend on the match. Building SAM launchers alone cannot complete the interception target: they must actually shoot down 20 incoming nukes within that game.

Special conditions and participation
Five achievements involve particular participants, lobby population, account presentation, or donations. Several depend on circumstances beyond your own performance, so they require different preparation from ordinary win attempts.
| Objective | Required condition |
|---|---|
| OpenFront team encounter | Participate in a game alongside a member of the OpenFront team. |
| Full lobby participation | Play a public match with a completely filled 125-player lobby. |
| Donations at low gold | Receive 20 donations while your gold is critically low. |
| Verified participation | Play 20 games with the verified checkmark. |
| Defeat against Evan | Lose an FFA match to Evan. |
Full-lobby participation does not require victory. However, a capacity of 125 is insufficient by itself: the requirement specifies a full lobby.
The verified objective counts games played, not wins. Its description does not explain how to obtain the checkmark, so do not assume Steam ownership supplies it.
The donation requirement states neither a numeric threshold for critically low gold nor an explicit single-game window. Those details remain unclear. Encounters with team members or Evan are also best treated as opportunities rather than predictable steps in a completion schedule.
A practical achievement checklist
Start with objectives you can deliberately pursue, then watch for opportunities that depend on the match. Use this order to organize attempts:
- Win in both modes. Earn public FFA and Team victories.
- Track maps immediately. Record each map where you win publicly.
- Pick one demanding target. Focus on cities, trade, or naval actions.
- Check lobby conditions. Review nuclear availability and player count.
- Separate timed attempts. Under-eight-minute and 45-minute victories require different games.
- Watch for opportunities. Special encounters and large incoming attacks may arise naturally.
For public-win attempts, a strong opening supports almost every later goal. Look for room to expand, accessible terrain, and water access when pursuing naval objectives. Avoid spending your entire army immediately, since recovery time can leave you vulnerable.
If an unlock does not appear, compare the match against its requirement before repeating it. Check public status, mode, victory, numerical target, and whether progress must occur in one game. Finishing at exactly eight minutes, for example, does not meet a requirement specifying under eight minutes.
FAQ
How many OpenFront achievements are there?
The September 23, 2026 Steam announcement advertises 29 achievements. This guide covers those 29 requirements, including public victories, individual actions, participation goals, and special encounters.
Can solo games unlock the public-win achievements?
Solo victories do not meet requirements explicitly calling for public games. Other achievements omit a mode restriction, but their eligibility in solo or offline play has not been officially confirmed. Check each requirement individually.
Why are my solo stars not appearing?
In a community discussion about solo achievements, players recommend retaining default settings and changing only nation difficulty. Another player reported delayed progress appearing after additional matches. These are community reports rather than confirmed explanations for every missing star or Steam unlock.
Do openfront achievements unlock free skins?
Cosmetic rewards for completing these achievements or collecting all solo stars have not been officially confirmed. Treat achievement completion as a progress goal rather than a guaranteed route to free skins.
Can I disable nukes for the nuclear-free victory?
No. You must win a public FFA game with nukes enabled while avoiding nuclear launches yourself. Disabling nukes explicitly makes the match ineligible for that achievement.
Do single-game objectives carry over between matches?
Requirements explicitly tied to one game must be completed within that match. Capturing 100 trade ships across several games does not satisfy the objective requiring 100 captures in a single game. Cumulative victory milestones are separate goals.
